Economic and Social Development; Health; Environment; International Goodwill
and Understanding.
Since its inception in 2003, the International Relations Committee has undertaken
the following projects:
Short term projects:
1) The Heifer International Project: We donated $1,000 (Milk Menagerie Gift)
toward the purchase of 2 goats, 1 water buffalo and 1 pregnant heifer to a woman
farmer in Zabia Wola, Poland. These animals can be bred and then sold to other
families for food/milk and thus produce income.
1) Smile Train: The Committee donated $1,000 for cleft-palate surgeries for
Guatemalan children.
Long term projects:
1) The Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Over a two-year period, the
Committee donated $5,000 to help women suffering from fistualas as a result
of bearing children at a very early age.
2) St. Benedict Joseph Center/St. Gerard Ministry in Comayagua, Honduras: We
donated $6,700 in 2004 for the construction of two birthing rooms at the SBJ
Center and are committed to helping fund the peri-natal care program at $6,000
each year for three years.
